Caley Thistle defender Danny Devine reckons his side can pile on the agony for Premiership leaders Aberdeen this afternoon.
Inverness secured their first win of the season in their last home outing against a Hearts side hurting from a first loss of the season against Hamilton the previous weekend.
Today’s opponents also arrive in the Highlands on the back of their first domestic defeat of the campaign, the Dons suffering a 2-0 loss against Championship Hibernian in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday.
With the Reds’ 100% start to the league campaign remaining intact after eight games, Derek McInnes’ men are aiming to bounce back from the midweek cup defeat.
Caley Jags have now gone four matches unbeaten, however, and Devine is hopeful his side can thwart another resurgence at Caledonian Stadium.
Devine said: “The Hearts game was a real turning point for us. We got that win and turned in a really good solid performance.
“We’ve kicked on from there. We’re unbeaten in four games and have to keep the run going now.
“Aberdeen are obviously a strong side and the boys know that. Everyone knows just how strong a start they’ve had. But our day we can beat anyone.
“As long as we go out and put in a good performance, the boys are confident we can get something out of the game.
“It’s always a big game against Aberdeen. They are a such a big club – every time we play them they bring a good following.
“They always have a strong team and it is about testing ourselves.
“We see them as a test. Getting a result against Aberdeen, with the way they’ve started, can really give us confidence going into the rest of the season.”
Devine made only eight starts last season but the 23-year-old has been an ever-present so far this term with 11 matches played.
The former Wrexham and Preston North End defender is determined to make the most of his prolonged run in the side, adding: “It was always my aim to come here and play as many games as I could, and help the team as much as I could.
“Now I’m getting a run in the team, I’m really enjoying it. It is better when we’re winning but the bad times we overcome.
“It’s just about getting through it, keeping my place in the team, and performing as well as I can to help the team.”
