Caley Thistle defender Danny Devine is hoping for a change of luck when his side returns to action following the international break.
The injury-plagued Highlanders snapped a four-game run without a win behind them as they won 3-1 at Motherwell on November 7 and Devine hopes the win can mark a turning point in his club’s season as preparations begin for Saturay’s trip to Partick Thistle.
The 23-year-old Northern Irishman said: “Every time we go to Motherwell it is a difficult match so to get three points from that game going into the break was great for us.
“We’ve been working on being hard to break down as we know if we get the ball we can attack with pace and it was good to see it come together at Fir Park.
“We’ve had no luck going our way but all we can do is work hard and hope things will turn around for us.”
The break has given John Hughes’ squad much-needed recovery time with several first-team players nursing injuries.
Ross Draper (ankle), Andrea Mbuyi-Mutombo (Achilles), Tobi Sho-Silva (hamstring), Dani Lopez (groin), Jordan Roberts (groin) and long-term absentees Aaron Doran, Dean Brill and Richie Foran are all on the sidelines while Miles Storey and Ryan Christie both suffered injuries in the win at Fir Park.
A crowded treatment room has become a common occurrence at Caledonian Stadium this season and with Inverness running one of the smallest squads in the Premiership former Preston, Fleetwood and Wrecham player Devine believes those left have coped well in adversity.
He said: “Everyone knows about the injuries we have had, but the players just had to get on with it.
“It’s been the same players every week and they have put in a brilliant shift in difficult circumstances. It’s been tough, but we know a couple of wins will put us right up the table again.
“All credit to the players, given the number of injury setbacks we have had, we are still right in among it and starting on Saturday hopefully we can get on a run of good results.”
