Caley Thistle forward Miles Storey does not know if he will remain in the Highlands beyond the new year despite an excellent start to his Inverness career, which continued with a goal in his side’s 3-1 loss against Celtic yesterday.
English attacker Storey equalised six minutes before half-time after Callum McGregor had put the Premiership champions ahead, with the Hoops going on to take all three points thanks to Leigh Griffiths’ strike and an own goal from defender Danny Devine.
Storey has made an impression at Caledonian Stadium since joining on loan from English League 1 club Swindon Town in September, netting seven goals in 11 appearances.
His loan deal expires in January, however, with the 21-year-old still uncertain about what lies ahead.
Storey said: “I have not spoken with anybody yet, whether that’s with Swindon or at Inverness. I’m just trying to enjoy my football and I’m taking each game as it comes. I’m just trying to do well for the team.
“I’m enjoying it, and I’m playing games, which so far in my career has not really happened.
“This was my 11th game on the spin, aside from one game against Dundee when I was injured. Other than that I’ve been playing, and that’s really what I was looking for.
“Luckily enough, I’ve got a few goals and I just need to keep it going.
“I wouldn’t say it’s worked out better than I expected. If I was going to be playing, I was always quite confident I would score goals.
“This is a very good team, although we haven’t picked up the results we’ve deserved a lot of the time.
“There are some good players here and a lot of quality in the team, so I’m pleased just to be playing in the team on a regular basis.”
Storey was frustrated his side could not build on his goal against Ronny Deila’s side.
He added: “It was a bit disappointing. All the players were quite flat after the game. For a lot of the game we played some good stuff, we got back into the match with my goal and we really thought at half-time we could push on and do some more attacking.
“When we were attacking we looked decent but there is a slight difference in quality and when Celtic went forward they looked sharp in front of goal. That’s what told in the end.”
