Back from a two-week spitting ban, now Spanish forward Dani Lopez to prove his worth to Caley Thistle.
The 30-year-old was banned and fined by Inverness following a club investigation following allegations he spat on St Johnstone defender Neil Martyniuk during a Development League match last month.
Lopez has struggled to impress since joining from Spanish third-tier outfit La Roda in the summer, scoring just once in 10 appearances so far.
But he is now in contention for tomorrow’s Premiership match against Kilmarnock at Caledonian Stadium, and manager John Hughes wants to see the good side of the former Atletico Madrid and Espanyol player.
Hughes said: “Dani’s been back training with us. He probably still needs a game to get himself going again, but he’s been training very well.
“The players have accepted him right back in. It was out of character, but he’ll certainly be in contention for Saturday.
“The last time he played was when he came on as a substitute against Motherwell in our 3-1 win last month. Nobody doubts Dani’s talent and technique. He’s got all those touches and drag-backs.
“He needs to get into the team and stay in the team. The only way he’ll do that is by performing every week.
“He understands he’s got competition for a place, and I’m delighted about that.”
Club captain Richie Foran is progressing well in his return from a knee injury, but Hughes will not rush the Irishman back.
Although Foran has made three substitute appearances this season, the 35-year-old has not started since a 2-1 defeat against Dundee United in March 2014.
Hughes added: “Richie needs games, but he’s getting there. He’s training away, and now doing two or three days continuously. He’s still got a bit to go.”
