Caley Thistle midfielder Nick Ross is determined to fight for his place after falling out of the starting 11 at the club.
Ross established himself as a regular under former manager Terry Butcher but found himself consigned to the bench towards the end of the season under John Hughes.
Ross knows he needs to find consistency to force his way back into Hughes’ plans at Caley Jags.
He said: “You need to keep performing to a high level because you know there are capable players on the bench.
“For me, it was initally just about getting as many games as I can and trying to add goals and assists.
“Graeme Shinnie and I came through from the youth team at the same time and he has held his position down for a long period.
“Now the challenge for me is to do the same and if I can I’ll be happy.”
