Caley Thistle forward Miles Storey is eager to extend his loan from Swindon Town until the end of the season and hopes a deal can be done this week.
Storey’s loan expires after the Scottish Cup fourth-round tie against League 2 side Stirling Albion at Forthbank on Saturday.
The attacker, who is 22 today, has been a success since moving north in September and scored his eighth goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-0 derby victory against Ross County, before Greg Tansey’s free kick sealed the points.
Storey believes his time in the Highlands has been the best of his career and does not want Saturday’s Binos game to be his last for the club.
He said: “Things have been a bit uncertain for the last two or three weeks. Everyone knows where I’m at – I’d love to stay here as I’m enjoying myself.
“It’s the best stint of my career. The difference is I’m playing consecutive games. I’ve never really had that before.
“I’ve left it to both clubs but everyone knows what I want to do. If Inverness want to keep me and it’s OK with Swindon then I’d love to get it done.
“Since I’ve been here, one of the managers at Swindon got sacked and Martin Ling came in and he’s just resigned due to ill health, which is not great. The chairman at Swindon has got a lot on his plate but I’m sure it’ll come up. There’s still a week to sort it out and things are often sorted out on the last day.
“I joined Inverness on deadline day, so it will probably happen again on January 9. We’ll see what happens. The Stirling Albion match could be my last game but I hope not.”
Despite being satisfied with his goalscoring return, Storey reckons he should have scored more in recent weeks and added: “I needed that goal against County. Against Aberdeen and Accies I had a couple of clearer chances which I should have done better with.”
