Caley Thistle captain Richie Foran’s season could be over after he suffered a torn calf.
The midfielder, who only recently returned to first-team action, suffered the injury in training with Inverness.
The 35 year-old has endured a miserable campaign due to knee injuries and has made just three appearances for the club this season, all from the bench, amounting to 20 minutes.
Foran is expected to focus on his coaching duties at Inverness while he recovers from his latest injury.
With under-20 coach Duncan Shearer serving a touchline suspension yesterday Foran took charge of the under-20s in the SPFL Development League match away to Hearts.
New Caley Jags signings Ryan Williams and Liam Hughes played the full 90 minutes in the game which Hearts won 1-0 thanks to an Ally Roy goal.
Inverness midfielder Jordan Roberts, meanwhile, is determined to make up for lost time and would love to help Inverness retain the Scottish Cup.
Roberts is yet to start for Inverness but made an explosive impact as a substitute in Saturday’s 2-1 cup win against Motherwell.
The midfielder netted an exquisite long-range injury-time winner to earn John Hughes’ side a quarter-final tie.
The Englishman said: “I think there is a little bit of pressure going into cup games when you are the holders.
“Teams want to beat us and knock us out of the competition but against Motherwell we showed confidence, spirit and togetherness.
“We got the win and hopefully people will fear us now.”
Roberts is delighted to finally have the chance to show the club’s supporters what he can do. The 22-year-old has endured a nightmare start to life in Inverness since joining the club from Conference side Aldershot Town in the summer.
The midfielder made only one appearance for the Caley Jags as a late substitute against Astra in the Europa League qualifiers before suffering a groin injury that sidelined him for the first half of the season.
Roberts admits it has been a difficult few months but is relieved to be back playing football again.
He said: “It has been hard. I got injured in July and it has been a long way back. I am just getting my full fitness back so it has been a tough journey.
“That goal is right up there among the best I have scored. I just need to keep working hard and hopefully there will be more of that to come.
“I don’t want the supporters to forget about me. That is down to me to do things like I did against Motherwell.
“When I come on from the bench I have to take my chance.”
