Caley Thistle forward Miles Storey is playing for his future despite Inverness being consigned to a bottom-six Premiership finish.
Storey scored the opening goal in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Dundee United at Tannadice, before Iain Vigurs added a second after the break, however Ross County’s 1-0 victory against Partick Thistle ended Caley Jags’ hopes of a top-half finish.
The goal was 22-year-old Storey’s 11th since arriving on loan from English League 1 side Swindon Town last summer.
With his contract with the Robins ending in the summer, Storey is uncertain about where he will be playing next season, but knows impressing for Caley Jags will put him in the shop window.
Storey said: “We’ve got a few games now after the split, so I’ve just got to do as well as I can to put myself forward.
“I’m playing to help the team and help myself.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time with Inverness and I really like the league. I played for a couple of years in League 1 and League 2, but in the Scottish Premiership every game feels like a big game. It means so much to the supporters.
“League 2 in England gets a bit of a stigma for being tough, but I think up here is just as tough when it comes to defenders. The manager thinks I should be winning a few more fouls. but hopefully I’ll be a better player for it next season.”
Having struggled to break into Swindon’s first-team, Storey is grateful for the opportunity of regular football handed to him by Caley Jags manager John Hughes, with Storey having made 31 appearances for the club this season.
The Englishman added: “He showed a lot of faith in me. I haven’t played this consistently in my whole career, so I can only thank everyone at Inverness.
“I’m enjoying it, and I’ve still got time left to play well and try and do a lot for the team.”
