Hearts midfielder Billy King is poised to join Caley Thistle on a season-long loan.
The 22-year-old, who was on loan at Rangers in the second half of last season, has been told he is not part of the plans at Tynecastle which alerted Inverness manager Richie Foran.
King, who scored 14 goals in 95 appearances for the Jambos, is out of contract at Tynecastle and his move to Inverness will effectively end his career at the Gorgie club.
He could be joined at Caledonian Stadium by former Scotland international Kevin McNaughton.
McNaughton, capped four times by the national team, has featured as a trialist for Inverness since being released by newly-promoted Championship club Wigan Athletic at the end of last season.
The former Aberdeen defender, who played in an FA Cup final and won the Championship with Cardiff City, is expected to sign a contract to join Foran’s squad.
Caley Jags captain Gary Warren believes the 33-year-old would be a great addition to the club.
He said: “He’s got experience all over the country at the highest level. He’s a fit lad and a bit older than me so it means I’m not the oldest in the team anymore.
“He’s comfortable on the ball and his experience will be invaluable, especially for the young players.
“The atmosphere overall has been brilliant from day one. The manager has our respect and knows the players and club inside out. It’s one big gang and team that will work hard and look after each other.
“That’s what we’ve seen so far in training and we need to keep that for the rest of the pre-season schedule into the start of the season.”
Warren is also hopeful another new signing, Jake Mulraney, the speedy Irish attacking midfielder who has impressed during pre-season, can make a positive contribution in Caley Thistle’s in the forthcoming campaign, which begins in the Betfred Cup against League 2 club Cowdenbeath on Saturday.
He said: “He’s very direct. He comes into the side still young but he has done well.
“He could get kicked a lot but I think he’ll enjoy it and take it in his stride.
“It’ll be a good season for him.”
