New Caley Thistle midfielder Billy King says manager Richie Foran’s powers of persuasion quickly convinced him he should join the Irishman’s Inverness revolution.
King signed up with Caley Jags this week on a season-long loan deal from Premiership rivals Hearts, who have triggered the option of extending the 22-year-old’s contract until December 2017.
While King remains uncertain about his future with the Tynecastle club, the midfielder is only focused on repaying Foran’s faith in him.
King said: “I liked everything he said. He wants to play more direct football, with lots of crosses into the box and he wants the wide players to go and express ourselves.
“It really suits me, what he wants to do – stay wide, get crosses into the box, hit the byeline and play in a more direct style.
“When we won 3-0 against Elgin in midweek, he was saying get into the final third, get the ball into the box but also express myself.
“Inverness have always impressed me. They’ve always got a good bunch of players, a tight squad. This is the best changing room in Scottish football.
“Everyone is together and I could see that in the two days I’ve been in.”
King could make his debut for the Highlanders in today’s Betfred Cup tie against League 2 side Cowdenbeath at Central Park.
The Edinburgh-born player, who spent the latter half of last season on loan with Rangers, is determined to put a frustrating recent spell with his home-town club behind him by impressing for Caley Jags.
He added: “When I came back to pre-season with Hearts, I could see I wasn’t really in the manager’s plans.
“It’s the club I supported as a kid and when we were in the Championship I played the majority of games. When we came up, I fell out of the manager’s plans but that’s what happens. Football is a game based on opinions and you just need to get on with it.
“I went on loan to Rangers and now Inverness, so I’m just looking to do the best I can.”
