Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran is looking for a hero to make his maiden Highland derby as a manager against Ross County today a memorable one.
Former Inverness captain Foran featured in 11 derby encounters during his seven-and-a-half year spell as a player with the club, but he will be in the dugout for the first time against the Staggies at Caledonian Stadium today.
Foran brought in four new players over the summer and he has challenged them to instantly endear themselves to the Caley Jags support by helping to secure a victory this afternoon.
Foran said: “New players can become instant heroes – I will tell them to go and become heroes.
“The supporters really look forward to these games. They enjoy it and there will be a fantastic atmosphere, like a family atmosphere. The supporters mix well together and it’s an enjoyable one, but it is a chance to become a hero.
“The supporters will be right behind them and can set the place alight. We want more supporters coming through the gates and that’s why we want to win this derby.
“I will be calm, like I have been so far. I am enjoying it. Hopefully, we can go on and get three points.”
One player sure to be relishing the derby is midfielder Aaron Doran, who played his first match in 13 months in Tuesday’s 1-0 Betfred Cup defeat against Alloa Athletic following a long-term knee injury.
Doran has five derby goals to his name from previous encounters, and Foran says the Irishman could play a part today, adding: “He looks really good and sharp. He is great to have in the squad.”
