Peterhead have signed former Dunfermline and Stenhousemuir attacker Allan Smith, who was released recently by Forfar.
The 22-year-old was also wanted by Montrose but he travelled with the Blue Toon for the League 1 match at Alloa on Saturday and agreed with manager Jim McInally that he wanted to join the Balmoor side after the Blue Toon’s 1-0 victory.
Smith came through the youth ranks at East End Park before heading for Ochilview in 2015 but he missed out on eight months of last season due to a groin injury before joining the Loons in August.
After failing to break into their starting XI, Smith will be given the chance to get his career back on track at Peterhead.
McInally said: “Allan came in and trained with us last week and he looked good. He showed in flashes the form that had made him a real top prospect at a young age.
“Things have not worked out for him in the manner he would have liked but he now has a platform to become a regular goalscorer again.”
