Defender Craig Reid helped defeat East Fife and then turned his attention straight to Saturday’s match against Stenhousemuir.
The 2-1 win at Bayview gave Peterhead a massive boost going into the crunch relegation meeting at the weekend.
Reid’s second-half header proved to be the difference during what was a nervy 90 minutes in the Kingdom.
Jamie Redman had given the visitors the advantage before a Jason Kerr header levelled.
Now the Blue Toon can go into the weekend’s meeting at Balmoor full of confidence according to the Peterhead defender.
Reid said: “We needed the win because we’re running out of games and are in a sticky situation.
“It wasn’t about how we won, it was all about getting the three points and it was a relief at the end.
“It was backs to the wall a bit, but I believe we were worthy of the three points.
“It’s a big game now against Stenny next weekend. Stranraer won as well but that’s just our luck and made it all the more important we beat East Fife. We have three games left to get as many points as we can and see where we’re at.”
It wasn’t a classic encounter with both sides needing the points for different reasons. The Fifers harbour ambitions of reaching the promotion play-offs and needed the three points to get back on track after slipping out of the top four last weekend.
Peterhead are scrapping for every point they can get at the other end of the table as they aim to stay clear of the automatic relegation spot.
Attacker Rory McAllister had an early chance for Peterhead but found Fife goalkeeper Mark Hurst equal to his shot.
That would be a familiar tale throughout the match as Hurst had to be at his best to deny the attacker on another couple of occasions.
The breakthrough came when Jamie Stevenson slipped the ball to Redman 10 yards from goal and he rifled past Hurst to put his side one up.
The equaliser was not long in coming, and the Methil men pulled level when Kerr outmuscled his marker at a Fife corner to head home Nicki Paterson’s delivery.
But Peterhead got back in front when Reid this time got on the end of a corner and beat Hurst.
“I kept making the same run and hoped to get on the end of one,” said Reid. “I got a glancing header on it and luckily it’s gone in. I don’t get many so it’s good to get one. It hit of the post and I think the goalkeeper maybe got a touch to it as well, but they all count.”
