Share and share alike the mantra at Balmoor

Peterhead manager Jim McInally wants his players to continue to share the collective burden of getting the Blue Toon goals this season.

The Buchan men have scored seven goals without reply in their last two matches, a 4-0 win at Cowdenbeath followed by a 3-0 victory at Edinburgh City last weekend.

Those seven goals have been scored by five different players and none has come from Rory McAllister.

McInally knows the importance of the club’s leading scorer of past seasons but is pleased to see the team not reliant on one player.

He said: “It is good that more players are chipping in with goals.

“Rory has been playing well, despite not being 100% fit, and I’ve seen a change in his game.

“He is bringing team-mates into play more often, making chances for them and creating space with his movement.

“It augurs well for us because we have spread the goals around since we started the season in July and we have still managed to find the net even when Rory has not played.

“Once Rory gets going we will be even better because we all know what he is like once he gets on a run.

“He played 90 minutes last Saturday and had two good sessions this week so things are looking good for Rory and for us.”

The two victories have moved the Blue Toon up to second place in League 2 and McInally wants to see the confidence on display when his side welcomes Berwick Rangers to Balmoor today.

He said: “The players are feeling good about themselves and the confidence is there.

“As I keep harping on to them, if you take away the couple of defeats which came last month, it has been a terrific start.

“We have won a lot of games from the three different competitions and winning 4-0 and 3-0 is only good for the players’ belief.

“We have done it with players missing and now that injuries are beginning to clear up, hopefully we can keep the momentum going.

“We need to make sure we apply the pressure on Stirling Albion at the top of the table.”

The Blue Toon will be without injured quartet Nicky Riley, Paul Cairney, Jordon Brown and Marc Lawrence.
