Peterhead midfielder Jordon Brown knows the difference a few weeks can make in a season.
The Blue Toon were mid-table in November. Today they are one point from top spot in League 2 after winning six games in a row.
The Balmoor outfit have scored 25 goals in their last six games including six away to the league leaders Montrose but Brown insists there is no complacency at his club.
He said: “It has been a good couple of months for us and there’s nothing better than winning games for creating a good atmosphere in a dressing room.
“Every game matters but it certainly helps that our recent wins have come against the teams around in the league and beating direct opponents has bigger consequences.
“When we beat Stirling we moved two points ahead on them in December. Now have the chance to stretch that gap to 13 points.
“It shows how quickly form can change in this league and also the importance of winning a few games in a row. Stirling were flying at the start of the season but their form has dipped just as we’ve clicked into gear but we’re not getting carried away.
“Six games is all it took to change our situation drastically but there’s a long way to go.”
Brown wants to make it seven-in-a-row today and he believes this afternoon’s game carries extra importance as his side prepare to shift their focus to Scottish Cup duty against Dumbarton next weekend.
He said: “With the Scottish Cup next weekend we know we have to take all three points this weekend as by the next time we play in the league we’ll have three games in hand on the teams around us.
“You get the same points for beating the team at the top as you do for winning against the team at the bottom. We’ve got ourselves into a good position just behind Montrose and with games in hand on them but every match is massive now.
“We can’t afford to get ahead of ourselves now though. Our focus is on what we are doing and trying to win games. If we keep doing that we’ll be fine.”
