Jack Leitch hopes Peterhead come through their run of five games in a fortnight back on top of League 2.
Starting with Berwick Rangers today, the Blue Toon have a pivotal run in the next 14 days that also includes back-to-back away games against Annan Athletic and Cowdenbeath.
It could prove crucial come the end of the season as Peterhead have six points to make up on leaders Montrose with two games in hand. Recent defeats against the Gable Endies and Clyde have eradicated the advantage they had over Montrose, where they could have overtaken them if they won their games in hand.
Former Motherwell and Airdrie midfielder Leitch, who joined Peterhead in the summer, is targeting a strong run over the next fortnight to put themselves in pole position for the championship.
He said: “These are games we need to catch up on and we have to get back to the top of the table. We’ve got Montrose on March 17, so if we win our games in hand we can definitely go into that one in top form.”
Leitch is relishing being part of a team on the up, as the Blue Toon chase an immediate return to League 1 after last season’s relegation. The 22-year-old was with Airdrieonians last season before spending time on trial with Caley Thistle in pre-season.
He said: “I’m enjoying it here. Coming from Motherwell and Airdrie all the way up to Peterhead, it’s great to be playing regularly and the quality we’ve got in the squad, promotion has to be the aim.”
