Jason Brown wants April to be a double family celebration as he and his brother chase league titles.
Peterhead and Brown are aiming to clinch the League 2 title this month while his older brother Jordon – a former Blue Toon player – can seal the Highland League crown with Cove Rangers.
Both sides have led their respective leagues for the majority of the season and hold five and six-point advantages as the campaign reaches its climax.
Victory for Peterhead against Clyde, who have been striving to challenge Jim McInally’s side, will inch them closer to the championship and promotion back to League 1. Cove can win back-to-back Highland League titles next week, with games against Keith and Forres.
Brown said: “I always look out for his result – after the manager has finished speaking – and I’m really close with him. We’re competitive but we look out for each other. I’ve taken advice from him and he’s told me to just keep doing what I’m doing. He keeps me level-headed.
“Last year was brilliant getting to play alongside him, as I never thought it would happen. To be part of a successful season alongside him was surreal at times, but training together and going home together was good. But if I were to play against him, it would be a different scenario. It would be no holds barred!
“They have a big few weeks of their season coming up, with the league and then hopefully progressing through the play-offs. It’s a good time to be a Brown and hopefully we can both come out smiling.”
Clyde were deducted four points at the start of last month for fielding an ineligible player, which looked to have all-but ended their hopes of winning the league. They are now back to six points behind the leaders in third, after winning their last three games and the Blue Toon dropping points against Berwick Rangers and Edinburgh City.
Brown added: “Winning would be a big step towards it (the title) but we want as many points on the board as we can. It would put us in a good position but we’re just taking it step by step.
“It’s our aim to finish top of the league but personally I want to test myself as far as I can go. But I’m happy with where I am just now.”
