Peterhead are today to discover whether Simon Ferry’s red card against Clyde will be rescinded.
The experienced midfielder was sent off by referee Chris Graham late on in the Blue Toon’s 2-0 win over Clyde at Balmoor on Saturday. Ferry went into a full-blooded sliding challenge with the Bully Wee’s Ray Grant and appeared to win the ball.
However, whistler Graham dismissed the 31-year-old and Peterhead have since discovered that Ferry received a second red from the official as player from both sides squared up to each other in the aftermath of the challenge.
As a result even if the Blue Toon’s appeal against the tackle that resulted in the first red card is successful, they will still be without Ferry for two games.
However, if the appeal is rejected at the SFA hearing the Buchan outfit could then be without him for four matches.
Manager Jim McInally said: “Simon got the ball and he was straight-legged by Ray Grant.
“The frustrating thing now is that even if we win the appeal we’ll still be without him.
“Apparently we should have been advised after the game that Simon had been sent off for a second time, which didn’t happen, so that’s disappointing.”
