Peterhead manager Jim McInally is disappointed they may be without Paddy Boyle for a few weeks.
The left-back required 11 internal stitches after being on the end of an elbow from David McKay in the Blue Toon’s 2-1 defeat to Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park on Saturday.
As a result of the blow Boyle’s teeth were forced into his cheek and McInally was unhappy that McKay escaped without card.
He felt the Kirkcaldy defender deserved a straight red card, although he was later sent off by referee Gavin Ross having received a booking in the first half and a second late on for a foul on Rory McAllister.
McInally said: “Paddy had to get 11 internal stitches as a result of what happened to him on Saturday.
“We could be without him for a while until it clears up.
“I don’t like to see people getting sent off, but it angered me that they were complaining about both his yellow cards being harsh.
“But then my anger is that the referee has sent Peterhead players off many a time in the past for a lot less than the elbow Paddy got.
“I was angry at the time and felt it should have been a red card at the time because Paddy got to the ball first and was clearly elbowed in the cheek.
“It’s frustrating because Paddy has been different class for a wee while now.”
