Peterhead are in the hunt to sign Aberdeen defender Luc Bollan on loan.

The Blue Toon are close to recruiting the centre-back on a deal until the end of the season.

The Dons have made the 19-year-old available for loan and it is understood the Buchan outfit have made their move to land him for the rest of the campaign.

Bollan, who played against Peterhead three times last season while on loan at Cowdenbeath, joined the Reds last summer after his release by Dundee United.

He has featured regularly for Paul Sheerin’s Aberdeen reserve team since arriving at Pittodrie.

If a deal is completed the Dons will hope first-team action in League One at Balmoor will further boost his development.

Peterhead boss Jim McInally has been looking to bring in a loan signing to boost his defensive options since Mick Dunlop joined junior side Hurlford United on loan last month.

In recent weeks he has made inquiries about other players with little success, but adding Bollan would be a boost as the Blue Toon look to move away from the League One relegation zone. They currently sit seventh just two points above Forfar in the relegation play-off place.

Meanwhile, McInally hopes to have Jamie Stevenson back in training tonight.

The full-back, who can also play as a winger, injured a hamstring in the 4-3 defeat to Montrose at Links Park on February 2 but Stevenson, 35, is set to return to training and may be in contention for a return to the team when Peterhead play Airdrieonians on Saturday.
