Ben Armour hopes he can continue to progress with Peterhead after a landmark season.
His 24 appearances for the Blue Toon last term was the most the 22-year-old has made in a campaign.
Although the striker’s season was cut short at the end of January by a hamstring injury he felt he made significant progress at Balmoor.
Armour’s second campaign with the Buchan side will begin in October and he hopes to continue on an upward trend.
The former Morton, Dumbarton and Annan player said: “I’m pleased Jim McInally wanted me to stay because I really enjoyed it last season and I felt I developed in different ways.
“It’s been good to work under the gaffer, (assistant manager) David Nicholls and (fitness coach) Stuart Hogg as well as learning from the boys around me so I’m delighted to stay.
“Last season was the most first-team games I’ve played in a season to it was good progress.
“I got to play at some good grounds like Falkirk and Raith and I enjoyed the responsibility and pressure of starting those games and trying to help the club get a result.
“The gaffer played me out wide quite a lot as well so learning that other position was brilliant for myself as well.
“I was gutted to get my injury at the end of January because I felt I could go on a good run.
“Then when I was coming back lockdown kicked in. It was a disappointing end, but I felt I did well and developed last season and I’m ready to try to continue that this season.”
Armour believes one of the reasons for his progression was learning from experienced players around him.
He’s picked up some tips from veteran striker Derek Lyle and Rory McAllister prior to his Peterhead departure in January.
Armour added: “I knew before I joined the club that I would learn a lot from Derek.
“It was the same with Rory McAllister when he was at the club just watching him in games and in training and looking at positions he would pick up you learned a lot.
“Even just small things like asking Rory and Derek where they would be if the ball was in a certain position or what you do in a situation it was great to get some tips from those guys.
“Off the pitch as well I learned a lot from Derek in terms of looking after yourself, there was one morning he was stretching at 10am when the game was at 3pm.
“Things like that were an eye opener to myself in terms of preparation and being ready to go.”
