A Peterhead FC footballer is being hunted by police after he failed to appear in court to face domestic abuse charges.
David Cox, 25, was due to appear for a trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court accused of assault, threatening behaviour and damage to property.
It is claimed the father-of-one assaulted his ex-partner Kerry McFarlane by pushing her and pinning her to a sofa.
It is further alleged he behaved in a threatening manner where he was shouting, swearing, and uttering abusive remarks having entered a property in Cleland, near Motherwell, uninvited on August 16.
But Cox, a former Kilmarnock player, was not in court when the case was called and a sheriff backed prosecutors calls for a warrant for his arrest to be issued.
Yesterday’s hearing was due to call for trial but the warrant being issued means that Cox, of Lanark, now faces arrest.
He joined League One club Peterhead in November 2012 and made his debut in a 2-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox.
