Peterhead appoint David Robertson as new manager as club announce Jim McInally’s successor

Peterhead have appointed former Aberdeen defender David Robertson as their new manager.

Robertson has been appointed as Jim McInally’s successor and takes his first managerial role in Scottish football in 15 years.

The ex-Scotland international had spent five years in India coaching Real Kashmir, leading them to the I-League for the first time.

He signed his son Mason for Kashmir, who had played for Peterhead during the 2017-18 campaign.

Robertson left Kashmir earlier this year and returned to Aberdeen. He took in Peterhead’s defeat to Dunfermline this month.

The 54-year-old had previous managerial stints with Elgin City and Montrose, leaving the latter in 2007 and subsequently moving out to America.

His playing career started with the Dons, before moving to Rangers in 1991. Robertson also turned out for Leeds United and Montrose, as well as winning three caps for his country.
