Ross County midfielder Michael Gardyne reckons it’s only a matter of time before the Staggies start converting draws into victories.
The Staggies’ 0-0 stalemate against Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday was the eighth draw from County’s last 13 matches, with Jim McIntyre’s men unable to capitalise on plenty of attacking promise against the Dark Blues.
Despite County having a tough run of fixtures to end 2016, starting with Saturday’s home match against Aberdeen, Gardyne believes it will soon click for the Dingwall men in front of goal.
He said: “We created a few clear-cut chances that we should have scored from. Dundee were all right, but we deserved to win.
“It’s probably the best we’ve played in the five games we’ve been unbeaten. It’s just disappointing not to get a goal, we played well up until the final third, we weren’t great when we got there.
“On another day we could have scored three or four. We scored four against St Johnstone, but in the past few games it’s been back to the same.
“The Hamilton game was the perfect example. We gave them a bit of a doing, but that finished a draw, and it was the same against Dundee.
“We’ve got hard games coming up with Aberdeen, Partick and Celtic as our next three, so it doesn’t get any easier.
“It’s all about belief, and we’ve done well against Rangers and Hearts so there’s no reason why we can’t keep doing well.”
The point keeps County a point adrift of sixth-placed Motherwell, but only three points ahead of Partick Thistle who occupy bottom spot.
Gardyne is not concerned his side could get dragged into the relegation struggle as long as they maintain the current level of performance, and the 30-year-old added: “The league is a bit crazy. Looking at the table there have been a lot of draws, so nobody is really pulling away from each other apart from the top three or four.
“It’s good and exciting for the neutrals. We just need to make sure we play as well as we have in the last four or five games and we’ll pick up points.
“The way it’s going just now it could be like this until we get to the end of the season if we keep playing the way we are. It’s hard to tell what’s going to happen in the next few weeks. Every game is massive. We came to Dundee to try to win the game and we were unfortunate, but we’ll take the point.”
