Former Ross County goalkeeper Mark Ridgers will sign for Partick Thistle in the next few days after turning his back on an American adventure.
The former Hearts, St Mirren and Scotland under-21 goalkeeper, who played for Orlando City last year, has agreed a deal with Alan Archibald’s team to the end of the season.
Newly married Ridgers turned down the chance of extending his MLS career for another season in Florida.
The 26-year-old had been training with boyhood club Ross County since early December and attracted interest from both sides of the border.
Archibald wants Ridgers to pressure established number one Tomas Cerny for the Firhill goalkeeping gloves.
Ridgers, from Merkinch in Inverness, emerged through County’s youth academy and earned a £40,000 move to Hearts in 2007. Despite managing just three first team appearances for the Gorgie side, he earned five Scotland under-21 caps.
After loan spells at East Fife and Airdrie, he became a regular for St Mirren, and was also loaned to Kilmarnock, before heading to the US last January.
