Ross County manager Jim McIntyre believes his side has the flair to bring Aberdeen’s fine recent run to an end at Pittodrie today.
The Dons have won nine of its last 10 matches, with the only blemish a 1-0 defeat to runaway leaders Celtic at Parkhead earlier this month.
County have not enjoyed such success in recent weeks, and travel to face Derek McInnes’ side in search of a first league victory of 2017.
McIntyre wants big performances from his attacking players, who he feels hold the key to his side’s hopes of ending Aberdeen’s run, and said: “Aberdeen are very strong. To score seven goals against a good Motherwell team just shows they are, especially at Pittodrie.
“We know we’re up against a good side whose confidence is high, but we go there for three points. We try to win every game and that will not change.
“Each game is different on its own merits and we know we’re capable of beating them. We’ve proven that.
“We know it is going to be difficult. We know we are playing a team that is full of confidence at the moment and has good players.
“Derek McInnes has continuously done a good job there and we know they will be very well organised and well drilled.
“They have good flair players in their team, but I feel we have got that as well.
“We need to defend properly and make sure we’re ruthless when we get our opportunities. That doesn’t change no matter who we’re playing against.”
County have had mixed fortunes against the Dons this season, with a 4-0 defeat on their last visit to Pittodrie in October followed by a 2-1 victory in Dingwall in December.
The Dons won 1-0 at Victoria Park to reach the last eight of the Scottish Cup a fortnight ago, but McIntyre feels his side has shown it is capable of hurting today’s opponents.
He added: “There’s been a couple of games where it’s been close. The last time at Pittodrie we cut our own throat going down to 10 men early and they’ve got the quality to hurt us.
“We played them in the Scottish Cup and although they deserved to win it, we had moments in the game where we should have done better.
“We know, on our day, we are more than capable of beating any team and that’s the mindset we will be going there with.”
