Ross County manager Jim McIntyre says the Staggies’ imbalanced number of home fixtures will not be a factor in his side’s bid for Premiership safety.
The post-split fixtures, which were released on Thursday, gave County just two further home games meaning they will have played only 18 games at Victoria Park over the campaign, with 20 away fixtures.
McIntyre, whose Staggies are only three points above the relegation play-off position ahead of tomorrow’s game against Celtic, says there will be no excuses from his men.
He said: “Obviously, it isn’t ideal when we have to go away from home more than we play here but it is what it is. We take it on the chin and get on with it.
“I can understand it to a certain degree as well because, on the balance of fairness, we have played those teams here at Dingwall twice. So, I understand that side of it.
“It probably has to happen to someone and that won’t have any bearing on our results. As far as I’m concerned, it is just a case of getting on with it.
“We have a home derby and this season we’ve been strong against Inverness, but each game is different on its own merits.
“It’s great it has been shifted and the cameras are here. Friday night football is something I’m very much a supporter of and I’m looking forward to it.
“But we’ve got a massive game against Celtic before that.”
County are looking to become the first Premiership team to defeat the Hoops this season, with Brendan Rodgers’ men aiming to remain unbeaten for the rest of the campaign in their pursuit of the domestic treble.
McIntyre believes his players are capable of springing a surprise and the Staggies manager, who has midfielder Martin Woods suspended and rates defender Andrew Davies as 50-50 with a back injury, added: “We’re obviously trying to win the game but a point wouldn’t be a disaster, either.
“We approach every game to win it. We have to go in with that confidence to win any match. But equally we know we need to do a lot of things really well against Celtic and need players one to 11 playing at their maximum.”
