Ross County midfielder Michael Gardyne was hugely relieved to avoid the threat of a second relegation with the Staggies.
Jim McIntyre’s side defeated Motherwell 1-0 on Saturday to all but guarantee their place in the Scottish Premiership for the sixth successive season.
Gardyne was part of the Ross County team that finished bottom of the First Division in 2007 and is pleased to avert a similar scenario.
He said: “There is a lot of pressure when you are in this situation. It is your job and your livelihood you are fighting for.
“I have seen what happens before when a club is relegated. People at the club lose thier jobs and players have to move on.
“It is never nice.
“I went down with Ross County on my season on loan from Celtic. I think I was only 19 at the time and it was tough.
“Everyone was crying and the manager Scott Leitch came in and said he was stepping down and even he was crying.
“It is not nice, so I am happy we won’t be involved in that this time.
“County are a big club and we are always trying to move on every season.
“I’m sure the manager will be looking to build again next season.”
The Staggies take on Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday knowing a victory would take them one step closer to finishing best of the rest in the top flight.
He said: “Getting the win at Motherwell on Saturday was a bit of a relief but we always felt we had the confidence to get out of the relegation contest.
“The game looked like it was going to end in a draw, so it was nice to hang on for the win.
“It was a great result and if you don’t make the top six then the next best thing is to finish seventh.
“We are in a great position with three games to go to try to cement that.”
