Ross County attacker Liam Boyce is poised to join English Championship side Burton Albion after further talks between the two clubs.
The Staggies this week rejected Burton’s initial bid which fell below the £500,000 release clause in Boyce’s contract.
Burton manager Nigel Clough remains active in his pursuit of Boyce, however, and is hoping to secure permission to speak to the 26-year-old by tabling a fresh bid.
Northern Ireland international Boyce, who netted his first goal for his country in a 1-0 friendly win against New Zealand this month, has a year left on his contract at Victoria Park.
Boyce has attracted plenty attention having finished as the Premiership’s leading scorer with 23 goals last season, with Staggies appearing to be helpless to prevent his departure.
