Ross County have completed the loan signing of Stoke City defender Harry Souttar.
The former Dundee United centre-back joins until the end of the season and goes straight into the squad for tonight’s game at Motherwell.
Souttar signed for the Potters in September 2016 from the Arabs but has featured mainly for their under-23 side to date. His only first-team appearance came in a Carabao Cup win over Rochdale in August last year.
The 19-year-old, whose brother John plays for Hearts, signed a new four-and-a-half year deal with Stoke prior to joining the Staggies on loan.
Manager Owen Coyle said: “We’re delighted to bring a talented young centre half like Harry to the club. He’s a real prospect with high hopes of playing at the top level with Stoke City.
“I think the fact that he has just signed a new four-and-a-half year contract shows how highly they rate him and we look forward to continuing his development at Ross County.”
His signing provides some much needed defensive reinforcements for Coyle, who only had five senior defenders in his squad. Midfielder Christopher Routis has been deployed at the back on certain occasions this season.
