Ross County interim co-manager Steven Ferguson insists the team spirit within the dressing room will be key to keeping the club in the Scottish Premiership.
The Staggies reduced the gap between themselves and Partick Thistle at the bottom of the division to three points with a 2-2 draw against Hamilton Accies at Victoria Park on Saturday.
Ferguson and co-manager Stuart Kettlewell were frustrated that their side did not take all three points but he remains convinced County can pull themselves out of the mire.
He said: “Anyone who was there on Saturday saw a group of players giving their all to win a game of football.
“For 85 minutes I thought we were great. The players conducted themselves fantastically well and showed a togetherness and team spirit that we want to take on as we move forward.
“We’re working every day with the guys and they’ve done well and I feel for them as the effort they put so much into the game.
“The togetherness and team spirit was really encouraging and if they maintain that and show that between now and the end of the season we will be in the mix.”
County were in complete control at half-time and deservedly led 1-0 thanks to Jamie Lindsay’s goal before two goals in three second-half minutes swung the game in Accies’ favour.
However, a late rally from the home side brought an equaliser thanks to captain Andrew Davies’ first goal of the season and County will be working during the international break on trying to build on their performance for their next game at champions Celtic on March 31.
Ferguson said: “The frustration is there for all to see. For myself and Stuart, we look at the boys in the dressing-room and we see how disappointed they are and they are as equally as frustrated as we are. But it is important we look at the positives and we’ll take that into the international break.
“We had a five-minute spell in the game that turned things on its head but we showed great character in turning it back around. We got the equaliser and we were looking to win the game.
“We want to play games every week but we can’t do anything about that. We’ll use the break to prepare as well as we can for when we come back.”
