Ross County captain Andrew Davies has left the club to join Hartlepool United.
The 33-year-old has had his contract cancelled by mutual agreement with the Staggies after asking to leave due to family reasons and has returned to the north-east of England to join English National League side United.
The skipper, who guided his side to League Cup glory in 2016, will be swapping one Victoria Park for another by moving to Pools with the move giving him the opportunity to return near his home of Stockton-on-Tees.
A Ross County statement read: “Ross County Football Club have mutually agreed to terminate the contract of Andrew Davies with immediate effect due to personal and family reasons and his desire to return to England.
“Ross County would like to thank Andrew for his outstanding contribution to the Club as player and club captain. In that role, he will always be remembered for lifting Ross County’s first piece of major sliverware.
“We wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”
