Ross County have revealed they have put the Global Energy Stadium forward to the authorities as a test venue for the return of fans to football matches.
In a statement, County said: “The Scottish Government had already provided an outlined date in mid-September for test events with crowds in Scotland.
“We can confirm that we, Ross County, have put ourselves forward as a test venue.
“There is no doubt that given our club’s ability to react to the pandemic in the beginning and diligent and extensive work carried out by our operational team, that we feel we have a group of staff with the capability to deliver a return for fans to our stadium in a safe and secure environment.”
The Scottish Government rejected a plan for Celtic to use their Premiership meeting with Motherwell at Parkhead on Sunday as a test event.
In contrast, approval has been given for Murrayfield to welcome some fans for Friday’s PRo14 rugby match between Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors.
County’s only home fixture before fans are expected to be allowed to return to stadia nationwide – on Monday September 14 – comes against Celtic on Saturday September 12.
The next round of top-flight fixtures isn’t until a week later on September 19.
