Ross County manager Malky Mackay says he is still in the market for up to four new additions before the transfer deadline later this month.
Mackay has already made nine new additions this summer, and handed Harry Clarke, Jack Burroughs and David Cancola their debuts as substitutes in the Staggies’ 3-0 Premiership loss to Hibernian at Easter Road.
The Staggies boss was pleased with the impact his new arrivals made, but hopes to have further reinforcements in place for the next game at home to Rangers on August 21.
Mackay said: “I thought they did well when they came on. Harry Clarke showed some strength and bravery at the back, and it was good to get Jack Burroughs from Coventry and David Cancola from Austria on as well.
“There are a lot of new faces coming into the building. We have obviously got to try and get more players in, that’s undoubted.
“We have lost 15 players so that’s something we always knew was going to have to happen.
“We’ve still got time to bring another three or four in.”
Hibs raced into a three-goal first half lead through strikes from Martin Boyle, Kyle Magennis and Christian Doidge, however Mackay felt his players did well to halt the damage.
He added: “We knew the threat they were going to be. We were unfortunate to lose the first goal, I’ve seen it back and it’s a huge deflection.
“We then lost two quick goals. It was something that happened quite a lot last year, that can then turn into a really high scoreline.
“That was something we didn’t want to happen.
“We got in at half-time and I made a couple of changes, I brought on a couple of debutants, and I asked them to be really brave and get on the front foot.
“I thought we did that, playing against a good team I think we caused issues for them as well.
“There was another game which was 3-0 at half-time and finished 6-0 – so I wanted to make sure that didn’t happen to us.”
Mackay had no dispute with the final outcome against Jack Ross’ men, adding: “All the goals came between the 22nd to the 33rd minute.
“I thought we started really well, considering we were coming to a terrific team that finished third last year, with a good manager and squad of players.
“In the first 15 to 20 minutes we threatened them in behind Paul McGinn, Jordan White had a good header and Ross Callachan had a good volley.
“There were a couple of flashes and chances for us, but I’ve got no complaints. It was a good team to play against, and good learning for us.”
