Ross County defender Ben Frempah believes the international break has come at the worst possible time for his club.
The Staggies have recovered from a dismal start to the season by taking four points from their last two games in the Scottish Premiership.
They remain rooted to the bottom of the division, three points behind second-bottom Motherwell, but with morale improving following the club’s first win against Dundee and then taking a point in the Highland derby at Inverness, Frempah is frustrated he will not have the chance to build on the recent results this weekend.
He said: “It’s been a good week for us and it’s tough that we’re not playing now. We’ve got the international break but personally I can’t wait for the next game.
“I love training and prefer to be doing that. I just want to play football.”
At 19 Englishman Frempah’s introduction to Scottish football has been a baptism of fire but the central defender insists he has learned a lot already in his first two months in the Scottish Premiership.
He said: “Scott Boyd has been great and he kept me going during the derby game but whoever I’ve played with has helped me.
“Every game is a learning curve for me as I’m still 19 and every situation I find myself taking something from it.
“The manager has been great for me. He pulls me aside in training and has a word with me during the week but he has put his faith in me by playing me and I’m really enjoying my time in Scotland.”
County dominated the first half before having to dig deep defensively to earn a point in the second half of their derby draw against Caley Thistle.
Frempah believes his side’s display typified the strength of spirit at the club despite losing the first seven league matches.
He said: “It was a tough game. We started well and got a good goal but once they equalised in the second half we were under a lot of pressure.
“Mark Brown made some good saves and we had to put bodies on the line and hold on.
“We knew we wouldn’t be on top for the full 90 minutes but we defended well and were worth the point.”
