Ross County and St Mirren shared the spoils in a highly entertaining match in Paisley which ended 2-2.
The Staggies had twice led through Paul Quinn and Graham Carey but Adam Drury and Jeroen Tesselaar responded for the Buddies in a game neither side deserved to lose.
Paul Quinn scored on his first start for Ross County but the Staggies failed to hold onto the lead at St Mirren Park.
Staggies manager Jim McIntyre made three changes to the side that was thumped 5-0 by Celtic at Dingwall last weekend as they went in search of a first away win of the season.
Michael Gardyne, Jackson Irvine and Paul Quinn were drafted into the starting line up with Ben Frempah, Terry Dunfield and Joe Cardle dropping out.
The Buddies had suffered a similarly dismal start to the season, particularly at St Mirren Park, and went into the match looking to avoid a sixth straight home defeat for the first time since 1969.
Heavy rain poured over Paisley as the match got under way with the hosts showing their early intent when Callum Ball’s shot was blocked by Scott Boyd before Kenny McLean’s header from the resulting corner was chalked off for an infringement.
County survived the early storm and took the lead from their first foray forward after 11 minutes when Paul Quinn nodded home Graham Carey’s in-swinging corner from close range.
St Mirren immediately surged forward in search of an equaliser and Staggies stopper Mark Brown had to be at his best to keep out Thomas Reilly’s goal-bound effort.
The visitors thought they had doubled their lead after 25 minutes when Michael Gardyne raced onto Jackson Irvine’s hopeful pass forward and coolly slotted the ball under Marian Kello only for the goal to be disallowed for a very late offside flag, which incensed the Staggies management team.
McIntyre’s side almost netted from another Carey corner nine minutes before the interval but Kello displayed great reflexes to tip Irvine’s header over the crossbar.
And County were made to pay one minute before the break when Adam Drury headed home from close range.
Gardyne had a second goal ruled out for offside six minutes after the restart when he chipped the ball over the advancing Kello but the assistant referee appeared to get the decision correct on this occasion.
St Mirren again began to dominate play with Jim Goodwin went close with a free kick so McIntyre introduced Martin Woods for Filip Kiss after 57 minutes and the change had an immediate effect with the visitors netting a second within 60 seconds.
It was a brilliant move with Yoann Arquin turning the ball back for Woods who calmly rolled the ball into Carey who smashed the ball into the bottom corner.
But the lead lasted only a couple of minutes with the unmarked Tesselaar firing the ball home from the edge of the area.
County appeared undeterred by the setback and continued to commit players forward in a game which ebbed and flowed from end to end at pace with both sides desperate to find the goal that would claim all three points.
Carey came closest to netting the winner with an exquisite free kick from 40 yards out which struck the bar as the game ended in a draw which means St Mirren’s wait for a first home win continues.
