Malky Mackay is eager to give Ross County’s supporters cause for excitement in their final home game before the winter break.
The Staggies host St Mirren on Saturday, ahead of trips to Hibernian and Celtic next week.
County are bottom of the Premiership, albeit they only trail Dundee United on goals scored.
With United making the trip to leaders Celtic this weekend, a victory over the Buddies could lift the Dingwall men off the foot of the table.
Having won just two of their opening 13 matches, Mackay is eager to give the Staggies’ faithful a timely lift after going down narrowly to Hearts last weekend.
Mackay said: “We are not wanting to right a wrong as such, as you deserve what you get.
“We have just come off the back of playing against Hearts, who for me are one of the best in the division.
“We are coming out of that at the weekend, knowing we have just run them really close.
“If we are benchmarking ourselves against them, we are doing OK.
“I love us playing here – it’s like a bowling green. It certainly felt like there was a bit of flair again on Sunday, we were getting forward and getting bums off seats again.
“That’s what we want here.
“Obviously we want to win and get a big result for the fans at home before the break.”
St Mirren enjoying impressive campaign so far
The Buddies make the trip to Victoria Park looking to bounce back, following a 3-0 defeat to Hibernian last weekend.
Stephen Robinson’s men have otherwise been on fine form, having spent the bulk of the campaign in the top half.
Mackay anticipates a difficult challenge against the Paisley outfit.
He added: “Stephen Robinson is a friend of mine who has gone in there and done really well.
“He’s a good manager. He has tweaked it, and managed to bring in a couple of his own guys in.
“Respectively, they are probably punching above what people think their weight is right now.
“It will be a tough one for us at the weekend.”
The video assistant referee system was used at Victoria Park for the first time in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to the Jambos.
The system helped to identify an offside decision which ruled out Jordy Hiwula’s early goal, while Mackay also felt two handballs by Hearts players happened in the build up to the visitors’ equalising goal.
Mackay spoke to the Scottish FA on Monday, and insists he remains fully supportive of the use of VAR.
The Staggies boss added: “As I said before, VAR is going to go for and against us at times.
“It went for us in the second half with them having one deemed offside.
“Having been down to the VAR centre and had a good look, I do realise they are under a lot of pressure and there is going to be debate on so many things.
“And, at the same time, it is still going to give better decisions than we used to have.”
