Ross Laidlaw has revealed he has begun primitive talks over a new contract at Ross County.
Goalkeeper Laidlaw is due to reach the end of his current deal next summer, by which time he will have spent four years at Dingwall.
The 30-year-old made his 100th appearance for the Staggies in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Hearts at Victoria Park.
Laidlaw has shown some impressive form this season, which has earned him plaudits from Malky Mackay.
Although he confirmed discussions have been held, Laidlaw insists they are still at an early stage.
Laidlaw said: “There have been brief talks, nothing concrete yet. They have spoken to me, and they are looking to extend it.
“There is nothing to report on that yet. It’s obviously a big decision for me at this time in my career.
“We will wait and see what happens. I’m enjoying my football now, and I’m just trying to put in good performances every week and take it from there.”
Laidlaw considers County spell his most enjoyable of career
Laidlaw joined County from Hibernian in 2019, having also had spells at Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Elgin City.
His spell at Dingwall has presented him with the most sustained spell of first team football of his career so far.
Laidlaw feels the regular game time has brought about an improvement in his goalkeeping ability, however the Linlithgow-born player feels there is still much more to come.
He added: “One of the things I came here for was to establish myself as a number one. I’ve done that by coming here.
“It has been the most enjoyable spell. I have played at different clubs and won different things, but playing week-in week-out at first team level in the Premiership has been good for me.
“I think I have improved massively. Even since I first joined the club to now, I think I have kicked on a lot.
“Being a goalkeeper, I still see myself as being young – with a good 10 years left in me.
“It’s about getting experience, the more games you play the better you get.
“I have enjoyed it.”
Thomson an ever-present in goalkeeper’s Dingwall stay
During his time at Victoria Park, Laidlaw has worked under a number of different managers including Stuart Kettlewell, Steven Ferguson, John Hughes as well as his current boss Malky Mackay.
An ever-present throughout his time in the Highlands has been goalkeeping coach Scott Thomson, with Laidlaw keen to pay tribute to the role he has played in his own progress.

Laidlaw added: “Being at Hibs, it is a big club who can bring in a lot of international players. It was difficult breaking through there.
“I just needed to pick the right destination club and Scott Thomson, the goalkeeping coach, was involved in bringing me in.
“I’ve been through a few different managers here in my time, but he’s been the mainstay and he was the one who pushed to bring me in.
“I’ve got a good relationship with him and that makes it easier coming in every day.”
