Ross County midfielder Rocco Quinn has declared himself fit for Sunday’s Premiership match against his former club Celtic.
Quinn has been sidelined for seven weeks, after picking up a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw against Motherwell at Fir Park in September.
Having now returned to full training, the 29-year-old is ready to face the club he began his career with, but knows it will be difficult for him to force his way back in with the likes of Stewart Murdoch and Martin Woods impressing during his absence.
Quinn said: “I’m back now and all ready to go, but it won’t be easy to get back into the team. That’s a good thing, definitely.
“Whoever plays, the standard we’ve set has to be kept up throughout the season. Regardless of whether I play or not, it’s important we maintain those standards.
“It has been a bit frustrating, but it can’t be helped. I just need to get on with things as it’s all part of the game.”
County’s last win against Celtic was a 3-2 home victory in March 2013, with Quinn and defender Scott Boyd the only players from that side who remain at the club.
Quinn believes the fourth-placed Staggies should have no fear of Sunday’s match against the champions, who are six points clear at the top of the Premiership.
Quinn added: “We have to show them respect for being champions, while realising it is a home game for us and we’re not a bad side either.
“It’s about going out and trying to take the game to them a bit more, being a bit more positive.
“We need to really believe in ourselves. That’s what we need when Celtic come to town because they are a top side, the champions.
“It is always a difficult game, so we need to have a self-belief to give ourselves any chance of beating them.
“Belief comes from looking at the league table, yes, but also just from looking at the players in training.
“I’ve taken a step back, watched training and watched the games. I look at how positive all the players are and how positive the manager and his assistant Billy Dodds are.
“Although it is going to be a big game, we’ve no fear of anybody. We’ll give anybody a game, we know that.”
