Ross County defender Marcus Fraser believes Aberdeen’s recent indifferent form is merely a blip, but believes the Staggies are capable of heaping further misery on Derek McInnes’ side this weekend.
The Dons have won only once in eight matches and were beaten 2-0 by County in Dingwall last month.
County have reason for confidence following an emphatic 3-0 win against Motherwell at the weekend ahead of Saturday’s meeting at Pittodrie, but Fraser remains wary of a wounded Aberdeen team.
The right back said: “We know Aberdeen will want to put on a good show in front of their supporters.
“There is no question they are a good side.
“They may be going through a blip just now, but they have done well this season.
“We won’t be looking at their recent form too much.
“We will be focusing on ourselves and going there looking to put on a good performance.
“We had to get the three points on Saturday against Motherwell and we managed to do that, which was important.
“We are on 21 points now so we can look forward to Saturday and see what that brings.”
Saturday’s win was County’s first clean sheet since their meeting against the Dons on October 16 when a Brian Graham double gave the Staggies a deserved victory.
Fraser was pleased to shut out the Steelmen, having conceded four to Celtic in their previous outing before the international break.
He said: “To win any game we need to have a strong base at the back to keep clean sheets.
“If we keep a clean sheet we always have a chance of winning the game.
“We place a lot of importance on keeping out the goals so hopefully we can get more of them in the next few games.
“The midfielders and forwards are working really hard and putting in a shift for the team. If we can get the supply into the box then we have people up there who can score.”
Former Celtic player Fraser has played every minute of County’s league campaign this season and believes his game is benefiting from regular first team football.
The 21-year-old added: “I think I have been doing well, but I still feel there is more to come. If I keep playing games then I can keep making progress.
“I always feel there is improvement to be made so that is what I am focusing on.
“I am still a young player and I am learning every day here. There are experienced players at the club who I can learn from. I am trying to learn every day and if I do that then I will get better.”
