Junior football: Title race tightening in both divisions

Hermes’ advantage at the head of the McBookie.com Premier League is down to a single point after they were held to 1-1 share of the spoils by Montrose Roselea at Broomfield Park.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men after just 12 minutes when Grant Mitchell was red-carded for a last-man challenge.

However, despite their numerical disadvantage, they went in front on the half-hour mark thanks to Callum Youngson’s penalty. Dylan Griggs levelled for Roselea with six minutes remaining.

Culter have played two games fewer than the leaders and strikes from Cammy Fraser and Ross Clark gave the Crombie Park side the win at Stonehaven.

Sunnybank have company at the top of the Championship

In the Championship, Fraserburgh United moved level on points with Sunnybank at the top of the pile after a 3-2 success at Heathryfold.

Adam Reid and Josh Petrie scored for Bank, who had Connor Rae sent off, with Neil Hay, Roy Noble and Zak Conway on the mark for United.

In a thriller at Rothienorman, Banks o’ Dee JFC led three times before being pegged back by Rothie Rovers.

Harvey Yeats, Calum Somers and Ewen Robertson were the Dee hitmen with Jamie Mackinnon, Andi Bremner and Craig Smith, in stoppage time, levelling for Rovers.

Tait Duthie, Lewis Robertson, Conor Watt (2), Jack Cowie and Callum Reid found the net as Newmachar United won 6-1 at Lossiemouth United.
