Glentanar produced the performance of the weekend to progress to the quarter-finals of the Quest Engineering Cup at Dundee Violet.

The two sides shared six goals in normal time, with Jamie Brown’s treble doing the damage for the visitors, before they went through 5-3 on penalties.

Also into the last eight are Hermes, with an own goal and Jordan Reid sealing victory at Lochside Park against Kirriemuir Thistle.

However, two early strikes helped Lochee Harp to victory at home to Rothie Rovers, who replied via Keith Walker.

And Bridge of Don Thistle were edged out 3-2 at Carnoustie Panmure, who are managed by former Don Phil McGuire, while Maud lost by a single goal at Pleasure Park against Downfield.

Islavale went down heavily as they lost 6-0 at Broughty Athletic.

After a goalless first half at Glenury Park, Dundee North End proved too strong for Stonehaven with Brian Rice, Jamie Montgomery and Liam Gibb all scoring after the break.

In the quarter finals, Hermes will host Glentanar, while the winner of this weekend’s tie between Sunnybank and Dundee East Craigie will go to Dundee North End.

Culter extend lead at top of Premier League

In the Friday evening league fixture, a Cammy Fraser brace, including one from the spot, and an own goal for Dyce, saw Culter move eight points clear in the Premier League, with Gavin Byars notching the home side’s consolation.

Finlay Stables’ first half counter at home to Colony Park saw Dufftown move off the foot of the table, where they are replaced by Banchory St Ternan, who went down 2-0 at Montrose Roselea, with Blair Stephen and Connor Mitchell bagging the goals.

Scott Kerr, Bradley Manson, Lewis Masson and Cai Matthew were the East End marksmen in the 4-1 victory at Ellon United, who replied through Callum Tremaine.

Josh Peters (2), Dan Agnew (pen) and Dean Still were on the scoresheet for Stoneywood Parkvale in their win against Nairn St Ninian, for whom Sam Walker found the net.

Title race remains neck and neck in Championship

Ten-man Sunnybank stay top of the Championship thanks to counters from Keiran Munro, Mikey Taylor and Scott Burnett in a 3-2 win at New Elgin where Andrew Mutch was red carded for the visitors.

Fraserburgh United stay level on points at the top, a Ross Taylor brace and Liam Strachan firing the goals at Cruden Bay, while Newmachar United won 2-1 at Burghead Thistle despite having Calum Reid and Murray Dawson sent off. Ryan Cormack and Greg Wood were on the mark for the away team.

Buchanhaven Hearts and Longside shared the spoils with George Mead and Lewis Brown on the mark for Hearts, and Jordan Mowat and Owen Tocher replying.

Forres Thistle won comfortably at Aberdeen University, and Banks o’ Dee JFC drew with Lossiemouth United at Spain Park.
