The inaugural Press and Journal Energy Cup in association with Balmoral Group hosted at Trump International Golf Links has been hailed as a resounding success.
The Texas scramble event was won by the Jigsaw Media team of Craig Simpson, Jonathan Gibson, Ross Starke and Brian Kidd with a combined nett score of 59.2 around the Dr Martin Hawtree-designed par-72 championship course.
The Marcliffe Hotel, John Clark Motor Group, Mintra Training and SKN Electrical were among the teams who took part.
After the golf, a gala dinner was held at Trump clubhouse, hosted by former European Tour player and broadcaster Alan Tait with an auction held to raise money for the competition’s charity partners The Friends of Anchor.
Steve Gibb, group public relations manager at Balmoral Group, said: “It was a great day. Hopefully this will establish the Energy Cup on the golfing calendar and we will have even more teams next year. We were delighted Friends of Anchor was the chosen charity.
“The course was tremendous, we have an absolute gem on our doorstep in Aberdeen.”
Craig Simpson, managing director of event organisers Jigsaw Media, said: “It was a great opportunity for business people to play an incredible golf course, do some networking and help raise money for charity. It was a typical Scottish day with some sun as well as some heavy rain, but everyone had a great time.”
Ken Cocker, group fleet and business manager for the John Clark Motor Group, said: “The golf course was tremendous, very tough but highly enjoyable.”
