Neil Fachie, from Aberdeen, has won Scotland’s first gold medal of the Commonwealth Games.
Fachie, with pilot Matt Rotherham, cycled to victory in the men’s B&VI 1000m time trial.
Speaking from the Anna Meares Velodrome after the win, Mel Young, Chair of sportscotland, said: “Congratulations to Neil and Matt on winning a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
“They produced a magnificent performance, setting a new Games record, and this medal is thoroughly deserved.
“A medal at this level of sport is a hugely significant achievement and is testament to the dedication and determination shown in preparing for the Games. Neil truly is a world-class athlete and has shown once again that he is a master of his craft.
