Lanark’s Stephen Gray was the only man to break par as he took a two-shot lead in the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Par 3 Championship.
The Scot took advantage of calmer conditions in the afternoon to shoot a two-under-par 52 at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre.
Gray leads Englishman David Davidson, who is level with Jonathan Thomson, Craig Lawrie and Alastair Forsyth a shot further behind at two over.
The going was tough for the men and women taking part at times with the winds of 30 miles per hour, coupled with small target areas, providing a fierce challenge to all the competitors.
Ross McConnachie of Peterculter and Clydebank’s Christopher Currie were the best of the early starters with three-over rounds of 57 while Aberdonians Scott Henderson and Stuart Wilson found the going much tougher as they both finished 14 over.
