Scotland have named an experienced squad for their crucial brace of ODIs against Afghanistan next week.
The group, which is the first to be chosen by new Scotland coach Shane Burger, features a range of players from the north-east of Scotland, including Aberdeen-born captain Kyle Coetzer, and fellow north-east compatriots Matthew Cross, Michael Leask, and hard-hitting Forfarshire star, Craig Wallace, who struck a century for Gloucester Seconds last week.
Most of the players, who will tackle the ICC Full Members at the Grange in Edinburgh on May 8 and 10, were part of the side which famously beat England last summer.
But there is also a place for Durham-based Michael Jones.
And, while several players have been injured in the last week – including the former Aberdeenshire-based seamer, Adrian Neill – the squad is a continuation of past ensembles.
The Scots are aiming to build on their recent successes, where they famously beat England at the Grange in front of a capacity crowd.
But Burger has already insisted they must keep pushing themselves, given their fixtures against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in the next fortnight.
