It was a night to remember for the Stuart family as brothers Billy and Callum showed why they have the potential to put Macduff on the boxing map.
Billy, 21, claimed the vacant BUI Celtic super-bantamweight title with a 77-75 points victory over Dylan McDonagh, while 19-year-old Callum defeated Casey Blair 40-36 on his debut.
Billy said: “It was good to get the win but I wasn’t impressed with my performance.
“I made it hard for myself towards the end of the fight.
“I could have won a lot easier than I did.
“My jab was working perfectly in the opening rounds but I had to tough it out in the end, but a win is a win.
“He is a tough operator who has been in the ring with some difficult opponents.
“I let a couple of rounds slip away, so I will watch the footage back, learn from it and be ready for my next fight.
“Hopefully I will be back in the ring in September.
“I was delighted for my brother.
“I think the whole family can be proud. I have won a title and Callum has made a winning start on his debut.”
Younger brother Callum impressed with a 40-36 win against experienced Northern Irishman Casey Blair.
He stood up well after being caught with a right in the second round and landed a cracking left in the fourth in an encouraging display against the 39-year-old from Bangor.
He said: “It was a really good experience.
“He was an awkward customer.
“I didn’t feel too nervous beforehand as I have seen my brother do it, so I knew what to expect.
“I want to keep working hard and see what promoter has next for me.
“I’m looking forward to the next one.”
