Scotland star Kyle Coezter has been in marvellous form for his country, striking hundreds on consecutive days against the MCC.

The experienced Aberdonian, who was awarded an MBE for his services to cricket earlier this month, batted for more than 90 overs without surrendering his wicket and put the visiting attack to the sword during the 50-over contests at Titwood in Glasgow.

He struck an unbeaten 101, including twelve 4s and a 6 on Tuesday, with his fellow Caledonian Highlander Michael Leask adding a superb 76, as Scotland A comfortably chased down their target of 229 with six wickets in hand.

Then, as the sun shone down at the home of Clydesdale CC on Wednesday, the 35-year-old who has previously appeared in two World Cups, carried on where he had left off with another imperious century which steered his side to more than 300 as they pursued back-to-back victories.

He and Dylan Budge (87) put on 231 together during an aggressive second-wicket stand and Coetzer eventually made 144, with a dozen 4s and three 6s, before falling in the last over of the Scots’ imposing total of 352 for 5.

It was an impressive display from several of the Scottish players, including Forfarshire youngster Calum Garden who struck a belligerent 58 not out.

Coetzer and five of his compatriots – Matt Cross, George Munsey, Calum MacLeod, Safy Sharif and Richie Berrington – have been snapped in the Global T20 Canada draft.

They will travel to North America for the competition which runs from July 25 until August 11.
