Nairn has been confirmed to host golf’s Amateur Championship in 2021.
The 126th staging of the event will see 288 of the world’s best amateur players descend on the town.
It the the second time Nairn has been selected to stage the event, with Lee James triumphing there in 1994.
The event – played over both the Nairn and Nairn Dunbar courses – will take place between June 14 and 19.
A win earns the player a place in The Open and following year’s US Open, while tradition dictates they also receive an invite to the Masters.
Duncan Weir, executive Director – golf development and amateur championships at The R&A, said, “We are delighted to be taking our 2021 championships to venues of the highest quality that will challenge the world’s leading men and women amateurs.”
“Our aim is to provide the opportunity for those players to compete with their international peers and to show how good they are. Selecting outstanding venues is key and we are delighted to have such a strong schedule for 2021.”
Meanwhile, Royal Dornoch will host the Senior Amateur Championship in 2021.
