Aberdeen’s Paul Lawrie is hoping to build on a positive BMW PGA Championship at this week’s Nordea Masters in Sweden.
The former Open champion finished with a flourish at Wentworth with a five-under-par 67 on Sunday to end the tournament just outside the top 20.
Lawrie missed three months because of a neck injury and is enjoying being back in action.
He said: “I was hitting the ball really well and five-under was the highest it could have been.
“It was only my second week back since the injury.
“Sunday was the first time I was really hitting the ball at normal speed as I had been trying to swing within myself before that.
“As a consequence, I was not hitting the ball as far off the tee but on Sunday I felt really good and I was making proper swings.
“It was a good way to end the week and hopefully I can keep that going.”
Lawrie tees off alongside Spain’s Rafael Cabrera-Bello and Tommy Fleetwood at 12.20pm this afternoon.
The event is being held at the new PGA Sweden National course near Malmo and Lawrie expects the wind to play a factor.
He added: “It is a really good course but wide open and exposed.
“It could be a windy week.
“It is in great condition and an American type of lay-out and lots of water so it should make for an interesting week.”
